Villa Murikka was commisioned by a young family after acquiring a building plot for a mökki near Jämsä.

 

The land is a glacial moriane field and is punctuated with old growth pines and bolders left behind by an ancient glacier. The clients were very keen to preserve this dramatic landscape and that the house and supporting structures should find there way unobtrusively within the limts of the site.

Several design iterations were pursued with one idea becoming dominant.  In time this design has undergone further changes and the first building is now being made on the site. Subsequent buildings will be completed mostly by the owners over a number of years.
