CLT Family home
Sipoo
2015
195m²
A pioneer of CLT construction in Sipoo, CNC robot milling combined with fabrication directly from the architectural comptuer model has enabled the completion of this individual and intricate design on a very limited budget.
Construction of the CLT structural frame was completed in only 2 days at greatly reduced total construction costs leaving more resources for internal finishes.
The house is clad with untreated Siberian Larch which will be left to weather naturally turning grey over a number of years. This contrasts with the internal spruce timber surfaces of the CLT which have been left visible over much of the house. On the lower floor level lightly ground exposed concrete reveals the restrained speckled pattern of the constituent local aggregate. Upper level floor surfaces, where bedrooms and the families personal spaces are located, are instead covered with compressed strand bamboo strip flooring.
